When I first started writing, it wasn’t with the hope of building a career or seeing my name on a shelf. It was because I didn’t know how else to survive.
The Cancer Diet began as notes to myself during treatment, a lifeline in moments when I wasn’t sure I would see the next season. It turned into a story of survival, grief, and learning to live again, even when it felt impossible.
I wrote it late at night, at my kitchen table, and in quiet corners of downtown Greenville coffee shops—especially the Starbucks where I work. Pages came together between cups of coffee, moments of doubt, and small glimpses of hope. I kept writing because I felt this story might matter to someone else someday.
Now, I’m trying to take the next step: getting these stories into the world, into the hands of people who might need them, and onto the shelves of local bookstores like M. Judson Booksellers downtown. Getting stocked there would mean more to me than I can say, and one of the best ways you can help is by letting them know you’d love to buy it from them when it releases.
About Pricing
I thought long and hard about pricing. I know money is tight for many, and I don’t take it lightly when someone chooses to spend theirs on my book. But I also believe I am asking an appropriate amount for the years of work, editing, and emotional labor that went into The Cancer Diet.
Because I am publishing through Ingram to reach bookstores, the paperback is $19.99 and the hardcover is $29.99 (Amazon exclusive). The ebook is priced affordably at $7.99 so it can remain accessible to as many people as possible.
If price is a barrier, let me know. I will find a way to get the book to you. And if you would like to save a bit while supporting me directly, you can ask me to order your paperback at the author price.
How Long Will It Take to Read?
The Cancer Diet is about 60,000 words, which will take most readers 6–8 hours to read, making it approachable over a weekend or a few evenings.
The audiobook version (AI draft) is around 7 hours to listen to if you prefer to absorb stories while driving or walking. I’m working on recording the final audiobook in my own voice for a personal, honest listening experience.

☕ Say Hello
If you see me at the downtown Starbucks, let me know you’re following along on this journey. It means more than you know.
This journey started as a way to keep myself alive. Now, it’s become a way to give back and remind others they aren’t alone in the hard, dark seasons of life. Thank you for walking this road with me.

🖊️ A Quick Note: My Next Book, The Lying Years
I’m also excited to share that my next memoir, The Lying Years, is in the works. It’s a look back at childhood, hidden truths, and the ways we learn to survive before we even know we’re doing it. If The Cancer Diet is about facing the end, The Lying Years is about the beginnings we carry with us.
Stay tuned for preorder details soon, and thank you for walking with me on this journey of telling hard, honest stories.
