I’ve been using the imprint “Fulcrum & Axis Press” for my books, blog, and projects, but I haven’t taken time to explain what it actually means.
A fulcrum is the point on which something pivots—the place where leverage happens.
An axis is the quiet center around which everything turns.
These words matter to me because I’ve spent much of my life feeling off-balance, always moving, but not always moving well. Fulcrum & Axis is my attempt to build a place—physical, digital, and creative—where the turning and the lifting can happen in a healthier, more honest way.
It’s a press, but it’s also a philosophy:
✅ Balance and momentum instead of perfection
✅ Clear stories and messy humanity instead of polished lies
✅ Leverage for voices that need it instead of gatekeeping
What It’s About
For now, Fulcrum & Axis is where I share my own work—memoirs, fiction, essays, reflections, and the projects I feel need to exist. The Cancer Diet was its first release. Unto a Golden Dawn followed. The Lying Years will continue here.
But I don’t want it to end with me.
Helping Others Find Their Way
I know how lonely and confusing the path to publishing can feel, especially if you are doing it independently, without a team or a big budget. I’ve had to figure out a lot of it the hard way, and I want to use what I’ve learned to help others who are trying to get their work into the world.
If you’re a writer or artist trying to navigate self-publishing, I’d love to help if I can—whether that’s offering feedback, answering questions, or pointing you toward resources that made things easier for me.
A Distant Goal
One day, maybe, Fulcrum & Axis will publish someone else’s book under its imprint. That’s a distant goal, and it will develop as it develops. For now, I’m more interested in helping people get unstuck, gain clarity, and learn how to bring their own work forward, on their own terms.
An Invitation
If you’re working on something and feel lost, or if you’re ready to share but don’t know the next step, feel free to reach out when the time is right. I can’t promise to have all the answers, but I can promise to listen and share what I know.
Fulcrum & Axis isn’t about branding or building an empire. It’s about creating a pivot point for honest stories to move into the world—stories that deserve to be heard, including yours.
Thanks for being here while I build this.
