I’m thinking about releasing the ebook edition of The Recursive Man at $2.99 to start. Right now, it’s set to $4.99.
Not because I believe the work is worth less—but because this book emerged through an unusual creative process, and I understand that process may raise questions for some readers.
What began as an experiment grew into something I’m deeply proud of.
I spent thousands of hours and many years working on the drafts, fragments, notes, and revisions that became this book. Many of those earlier versions still exist, and I believe they are worth revisiting in their own right. The Recursive Man is the result of a long evolution—part memoir, part fiction, part exploration of process, memory, grief, and authorship itself.
If you’re curious about the project but hesitant to buy it outright, feel free to reach out through my website. I’m happy to share extended samples—and, in some cases, more—with thoughtful, engaged readers. My hope is to open a conversation around the work, not simply sell a product.
That said, I also believe time, labor, and creative effort have value.
I’ll leave the question of what this particular experiment is “worth” to the people who encounter it fresh.
I’m too close to the process to answer that honestly myself.
